The Richmond Seen was granted the opportunity to be on the scene recently as Ember Music Hall presented Hip Hop Orchestra with La Primavera Strings.

We pulled up just in time to catch Richmond native Dizzy Wunda performing his latest hit, So Close, while DJ Mike Millz was already settin’ the vibe. Soon after, La Primavera hit the stage with Dizzy, pulling the intimate crowd to their feet with a high-energy cover of Kendrick Lamar’s HUMBLE.

The scene was cozy but lively—folks were dancing, drinking, vibing, and just genuinely enjoying themselves. At one point, a young girl celebrating her birthday was amped up by the crowd while she danced joyfully under the lights. It was the perfect Sunday night in Richmond: joyful, soulful, and community-filled.

We were invited backstage by Dizzy Wunda, his manager, and Freedom Imani, where we had a chance to connect, talk music, and introduce ourselves as The Richmond Seen. We also had a great convo with 757 artist Louissa, who earlier graced the stage with original tracks that kept the crowd fully locked in.

Mike Millz returned to the mic with a surprise cover, and the energy never dipped. The service was on point, and yes—there was drinks and food.

But the true stars of the night? La Primavera Strings. The award-winning six-piece string orchestra kept the city hype with hood classics like Juvenile’s Back That Azz Up and Waka Flocka Flame’s Hard in Da Paint. Their blend of classical precision and trap energy was… awe-inspiring. As a former band geek, I was damn near emotional watching them blend genres so seamlessly. I’ve never seen anything like it.

La Primavera Strings’ Hip Hopera is the kind of experience you don’t just watch—you feel it. It’s genre-bending, culture-mixing, and hip-hop brilliance at its finest.
