It’s been a week since we released freshPress Vol. 1, and the excitement surrounding Richmond Seen’s inaugural print issue is still being felt. The launch event at Hot for Pizza was nothing short of electric — while we can’t say for sure if it was the most crowded it’s ever been, it was easily the most packed we’ve ever seen it. But this is a large part due to Hip Hop Henry.

The energy in the room was undeniable. Even those who weren’t initially aware of the release quickly caught on, showing love and support for what felt like a moment in Richmond’s creative scene, and for Hip Hop. The room was filled with familiar faces with artists and creatives who continue to shape the city’s culture. Silly Genius, CJ the Profit, Nikko and Earl from Chillalay, and Q from Carter Magazine all pulled up, while Melodic took over the 1s and 2s for a bit, setting the vibe.
The overwhelming support means everything, and we can’t thank everyone enough for making the first issue of freshPress feel like an event in itself. But this is just the beginning.
If you haven’t secured a copy yet, you can still find freshPress. at the Charged Up Flagship Store and Vinyl Conflict. If you run into any stock issues, hit us up, and we’ll make sure to get more copies out.
